Halme Forestry Inc. – doing business as HFI Consultants is a Forestry Consulting Firm serving the Pacific Northwest. We provide consulting and project management services to landowners seeking to evaluate, enhance and bring the most value from their lands and forests. Our clientele are timber companies, tree farms, land trusts, estates, land use and real estate attorneys, appraisers, and others interested in the management and use of rural lands and forests.

The company was founded by brothers David and Timothy Halme, with over 60 years of combined experience in forest and facilities management. David Halme earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management from the University of Washington and has served the State of Washington as the Forest Manager of the U of W Pack Experimental Forest, the Director of Facilities at Clark Community College in Vancouver, Washington and more recently as Vice President of Administrative Services at Clark College. Timothy Halme has earned an Associates of Science degree in Forest Technology from Green River Community College in Auburn Washington and has served the Forest Industry for many years as an Industrial Forester and Forest Consultant in the Pacific Northwest.

Tyrol Forfar joined HFI in 2022 after relocating his family from central British Columbia to Clark County, Washington. Tyrol was born and raised in British Columbia and has gained a well-rounded experience in the forest industry since 2003. Tyrol received a diploma in Forest Resource Technology from the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, BC in 2004 and in 2015 was admitted into the Association of BC Forest Professionals. He worked for large timber companies and forestry consultants, and before leaving BC operated his own small forestry consulting business for a few years. After working under the mentorship of Tim and Dave and being an integral part of the HFI team for 3 ½ years, Tyrol made the decision to purchase HFI in July of 2025.

Philip Hufman joined the HFI team in June 2025. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Forest Operations degree from California Polytechnic University in Humbolt in 2023 which is considered a premier Forestry degree by international standards. Combined with his work during school he has over 3 years of forestry experience working as a forestry technician at a forestry consultant firm and lastly as a district forester for Sierra Pacific Industries. With his education and work experience he makes a great addition to HFI.
